This morning my son and I walked around the yard to enjoy the last bit of warmth for a few days before the storm hits. The wind was picking up as we were out there, but the temps were still in the 60’s. I took a few pictures, and then raked up another little bit of the yard. I’ve got about 25% of the backyard raked so far.
A few daffodils are creeping up out of the ground here, off to the side of my back patio:
The apricot tree is budding:
This looks like grass growing in a raised bed, but its actually rogue garlic. When we harvested our garlic last fall, it was really late and the heads were falling apart. Many cloves got left in the soil, and are already growing. The ones I purposely planted last fall are not poking up yet. Go figure.
I started a new compost pile (on the right) since I finished heaping up the big pile earlier this week (on the left). I watered the new pile and put the wheelbarrow on top, since there was a lot of loose dry leaves in there, and the wind was picking up as the storm rolls in today. I don’t want to lose the work I did raking already. My little helper is
playing with the hose watering the older pile for me.
Have a great weekend!
